One of my favourites

How I love this plant. Absolutely stunning, but do not prune it for the first 3 years after planting..... it takes a little time to establish itself. Then you can be ruthless and prune it back hard. Midwinter Fire..... literally

  1. These are absolutely beautiful, I love the colour against white snow and dreariness of winter. I've considered getting a few for the front garden actually, but not sure where to place them. Then again, I also promised son a "pink tree" (species of chinese maple, I forget the name) so I had best prioritise!

  2. I know arent priorities so boring ...... not sure which maple that might be - they do all have lovely red twigs/branches in winter where their new growth is...

    1. I found it actually - Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum'; he's thrilled, so now I just need to find a place to put it.

  3. Do let me know if you ever want plants as I can easily add them to an existing order! And the nursery I get them from is excellent - and cheaper than garden centres!

    1. Oh sweet, sweet temptation! Let me get back to you on that :) And I hope you can pop round again soon for good tea and to watch my birds being daft outside.
